Bike back to Hoi An Rural Life

(Biking through the countryside to a pottery village, wooden caving village, vegetable farm and lantern making factory)

This bike trip through the countryside takes you through picturesque trails to an old pottery village, wooden caving village, Tra Que vegetable village and a stop at a traditional lantern making shop. We see how houses, statues, pottery and lanterns have been made for generations, and at the local farm we prepare a meal from the produce that is grown.

This trip starts right from your hotel in Hoi An. We ride through the ancient town along a branch of Thu Bon river head to Thanh Ha pottery village. This village still produces pots, bowls, plates and even tiles used in restoring some of the old building in Hoi An, the traditional way inherited from their ancestors.

From here we crossing bridge to Cam Kim Island - the wooden caving village, where people build houses, statues, fixxing boat by traditional way for generations.

We get back to Hoi An by boat to Organic vegestable village. The ride pushes further into the countryside and the road slowly narrows and turns to a pleasant dirt path. Slowly rolling through wide open rice paddies on a long section of single track trail with water buffaloes wallowing in the shallow pools. We pass duck farms, and geen field of peanut and sweet potatoes. You can imagine that Vietnam’s countryside has been like this for generations.

Once arriving at Tra Que Village, we have a chance to learn the traditional farming methods of the locals. It is said that the vegetables here are special because the farmers do not use any pesticides or chemical fertilizer at all. We get to prepare a meal with the produce that is grown here. Lunch is served by local family here with special food in this village.

After lunch, our final stop is Ha Linh lantern factory, where we learn the various steps in producing a traditional Hoi An lantern. We make one of our own as a keepsake.

Finally, we ride about 15 minutes back to Hoi An and end our fantastic journey
